The Sonic Crusaders are going to the moon!
Several of Sonic Crusaders' photos have been selected for inclusion in a time capsule that will be heading to the moon.
Griffin Mission One, developed by Astrobotic Technology, is part of NASA's Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) program. It aims to deliver various scientific and technological payloads to the Moon's South Pole, specifically targeting the Nobile Crater region. The mission will conduct experiments and technology demonstrations related to lunar resource prospecting and surface operations.
The project is part of the Galactic Library Preserve Humanity (GLPH) archive, developed by Stamper Technology and delivered via Astrobotic's Griffin Mission One (Griffin-1). The archive will use NanoFiche, an advanced storage medium designed to endure the moon's harsh conditions for millions of years. Nanofiche GLPH (Galactic Library Preserve Humanity) is a durable nanoscale archive etched on nickel, containing cultural and intellectual artifacts, including literature, art, historical documents (e.g., Apollo guidance computer archives, Miracle on 34th Street the Musical), the reimagined Library of Alexandria, Lunar Codex archives, and photos of the Sonic Crusaders! It is designed to endure lunar conditions for millions of years. Griffin-1 will launch from Cape Canaveral aboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket. See details here.

A performance for the Merci Project at Sennheiser Headquarters in Hanover, Germany on March 13, 2025
MERCI is a French-German project that focuses on the development of innovative solutions for private wireless networks.
The aim of the project is to use the DECT NR+ standard to create a non-cellular network (in contrast to 5G mobile communications) for everyone, anytime and anywhere. People would be able to set up and operate their own undisturbed networks for specific applications.
There is a wireless standard that does not require a large provider in order to use smart meter applications, for example. This standard requires no infrastructure, no SIM card and no per-minute billing. Merci wants to create a wireless network that can be used by anyone, that fulfills specific applications and can be used immediately.
They want to demonstrate and assess the potential of the purely European-developed alternative to cellular 5G.

On October 1st, 2024, Sennheiser, one of the world's largest pro audio equipment manufacturers, launched their Spectera product line in the United States at the Americas Spectrum Management Conference (ASMC) in Washington DC. Spectera uses Wireless Multichannel Audio Systems (WMAS) advanced wireless microphone technology, designed to meet the challenges of highly demanding live performance and studio applications. The Sonic Crusaders debuted this technology in the USA during a live performance at the ASMC reception, together with Bo Bice.
The global public debut of this technology was the Sonic Crusaders concert that took place during the United Nations World Radio Conference (WRC-23) on November 22, 2023 in Dubai. The Federal Communication Commission (FCC) recently approved a change in its regulations that now permits WMAS operation in the United States. Compared to conventional wireless microphone systems, Spectera offers higher spectral efficiency – the ability to transmit more audio channels within a limited block of radio frequency (RF) spectrum – as well as greater interference protection to other wireless services that share the same spectrum. The FCC’s Office of Engineering & Technology (OET) studied and scrutinized WMAS technology for nearly six years and concluded that a rule change in the federal regulations that governs the use of radio waves was justified. This will revolutionize audio for live events and content creation.
Leading industry professionals on this technology:
“Theater sound designers and engineers face steep challenges because radio frequencies that can be used for wireless microphones and intercom are limited, especially in major cities. The higher audio channel count and easier frequency coordination that Spectera promises is an exciting and welcomed, as well as needed, development.”
Tony Meola, Broadway Sound Designer
(Wicked, The Lion King, The King & I, The Sound of Music)
“The sophistication of concerts continues to increase, especially in terms of wireless technology. Suitable radio frequency spectrum for wireless mics and in-ear monitors is scarce in many cities. Thus, Spectera is eagerly anticipated. It’s a thrilling prospect that the audio fidelity, transmission reliability, and low latency for each individual audio channel will be adjustable, such that only the minimum amount of spectral resources will be used to achieve those specifications. The ability to switch those parameters dynamically throughout an event will be a gamechanger, especially for multi-act festivals and award show broadcasts.”
Robert Scovill, Front-of-House Audio Engineer
(Kenny Chesney, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Def Leppard, Matchbox 20, Rush, Prince, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony)
“Microphones need to work when we make movies. Spectera will keep them working flawlessly in the digital age.”
Chris Newman, Three-Time Academy Award-Winning Engineer (Best Sound)
(The Godfather, The Exorcist, The English Patient, Fame, Amadeus, A Chorus Line, The Silence of the Lambs)
“I had the privilege to use an advanced Spectera prototype for a show at the United Nations’ World Radio Conference (WRC-23) in Dubai. I loved it. The recent FCC rule-change opens the door for the next generation of wireless technologies, allowing progress to continue to the next horizon. I can’t wait to get my hands on a WMAS system again!”
Jason Banta, Audio Engineer / Production Manager
(Amos Lee, Better Than Ezra, Sonic Crusaders)

United Nations World Radio Conference November 22, 2023 in Dubai.
The first production Sennheiser Spectera equipment, which utilizes Wireless Multichannel Audio Systems (WMAS) technology, has started shipping to customers. These novel approach wireless microphones will revolutionize the industry. The Sonic Crusaders was the first band in the world (Dubai), and in the USA (Washington), to perform using this technology.
